England manager Gareth Southgate has replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold with Ben White for the European Championship.

Gareth Southgate has selected Ben White to replace an injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in his 26-man European Championship squad.

The Three Lions boss made the decision after Alexander-Arnold sustained a thigh injury in the closing stages of last week’s 1-0 friendly win over Austria. The Liverpool star could be out for around four to six weeks.

Brighton defender White, therefore, is in the squad. The 23-year-old has only played twice for England, but he had a solid season in the Premier League and can offer cover in central defense and as a full-back.

His arrival would also mean additional cover for Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, who is still recovering from an ankle injury.

White’s inclusion in the England squad means Jesse Lingard, James Ward-Prowse, Ollie Watkins, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben Godfrey, and an injured Mason Greenwood miss out on a spot.
