Emmanuel Petit makes Chelsea vs Real Madrid prediction

The former Blues midfielder is backing his old club to top Real Madrid in their upcoming Champions League clash.

Emmanuel Petit is ‘pretty sure’ Chelsea will win their upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid.

For the second season in a row, the two sides meet in the knockout stages. They last met in the semi-finals of the competition during the previous campaign. Chelsea won the tie 3-1 on aggregate, before beating Manchester City 1-0 in the final itself.

Now Petit is expecting a similar outcome as Real Madrid’s current form has left him unconvinced they have what it takes to progress.

“Of course, they can [beat Real],” he told Lord Ping about Chelsea’s chances of winning the semi-final tie.

“Did you watch the El Clasico? I was at the game [against PSG] and it appeared PSG were the better team in both games and should have scored at least five or six goals.

“This is exactly what Barcelona did – and when you look at Chelsea, they have so many players who can hurt you in their team. I know it’s Real Madrid and the history of the club, but I’m pretty sure that Chelsea will go through.”

The winner of the tie between Chelsea and Real Madrid will meet either Manchester City or Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
