Emmanuel Petit has predicted the result for the upcoming Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea.

Emmanuel Petit thinks Chelsea’s lack of clinical edge could hand the Champions League title to Manchester City.

The two Premier League clubs meet on Saturday night in Porto, Portugal, for an all-English final. The Blues head to the tie having won their last two encounters with City in recent weeks.

But while impressed with his former club’s defensive progress under Thomas Tuchel, Petit feels Chelsea’s attackers aren’t clinical enough for a match that could offer very few goal opportunities.

“When it comes to a final, and your whole season hangs on one game, you need to be clinical in both areas in front of goal,” the former Blues midfielder told Paddy Power.

“Defensively with Chelsea, that’s guaranteed. But up front I’m not so sure.

“In a final you might get only two or three chances to score, and you need to take them. Chelsea have too many players who need four or five chances to score.

“Manchester City have players who need only one chance. I don’t think there are going to be many chances in this game, so City are the better choice for me.

“That’s why I feel as though City are going to win this final.”

Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves have also backed City to win the Champions League final.
