The former Chelsea and Manchester City players have named their predictions for the Champions League final.

Joe Cole and Owen Hargreaves have both backed their former clubs to come out on top in the Champions League final.

Manchester City and Chelsea lock horns in Porto, Portugal, on Saturday night. It will be the third meeting between the Premier League clubs in just over a month. And, without a doubt, it is the most important one by a long way.

Chelsea won bragging rights in the previous two meetings by claiming 1-0 and 2-1 victories respectively, but can the Blues make it three wins in a row?

Joe Cole’s prediction – Chelsea to win 2-1

Not only does Cole expect Thomas Tuchel’s side to win the Champions League in extra-time, but he also reckons the goal-shy Timo Werner will snatch the winning goal.

“I’m going to go with 1-1 at full-time,” the former Blues winger told JOE.

“And I’m going last moments of extra time. Chelsea on the break, Manchester City have dominated possession. Timo Werner goes and sticks it in.

“2-1 Chelsea in extra time.”

Owen Hargreaves’ prediction – Man City to win 2-1

Hargreaves, who ended his career following an injury-barren spell at Manchester City in 2011/12, thinks Pep Guardiola’s men are destined to win the Champions League.

The Citizens are on the hunt for a treble, having won the Premier League and EFL Cup earlier this season, and are keen to win that first-ever Champions League trophy.

“I think it feels like fate for City,” said Hargreaves. “It feels like their destiny.

“As good as Pep is and he hasn’t won one of these for a long time, he will want to mark this occasion.

“I don’t think he’ll tinker with it this time around. With the defense he has and the goalkeeper I think you can pretty much guarantee who is going to play.”

On the final score, the former midfielder said: “I think City win 2-1.

“Phil [Foden] and Riyad [Mahrez] score and I think Kai Havertz pops up with a beauty.”

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen is also tipping Guardiola’s side to claim European glory.
