Dortmund join the race for a Chelsea defender

Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign one of the key Chelsea defenders on a free transfer in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund are showing interest in getting hold of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer in the summer.

The 25-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge. And all the symptoms are signalling that he might leave the club at the end of the season.

The Denmark international’s transfer talk has been seized at the moment as his agent has stopped further talks with the Blues.

In fact, Christensen’s representatives are actively searching for a club across Europe. Meaning, it is imminent that he will look for a better option before summer arrives.

According to German media outlet Sport Bild, Dortmund are one of the clubs eager on signing the centre-half at the end of the campaign.

Things make sense for both the parties, given Christensen’s two-year stint on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach. Moreover, BVB are in need to strengthen their defensive unit for next season.

Apart from Dortmund, Barcelona are another top club monitoring the Dane’s contract situation. They too will attempt to transfer him for free.

However, the question remains whether Chelsea will spark a new deal for the defender. That will end all the other speculation surrounding Christensen.
