Despite his Chelsea contract set to expire next summer, Andreas Christensen appears hopeful a new deal will shortly arrive on his doorstep.

An optimistic Andreas Christensen has claimed his situation ‘looks good’ as he enters the last season of his Chelsea contract.

After struggling to win favor under Frank Lampard, Christensen has enjoyed regular opportunities and praise since Thomas Tuchel took over in January. The Blues boss has handed him 23 appearances so far. The Dane has also started in each of Chelsea’s three Premier League games this term.

So while Christensen’s current contract expires in June 2022, he appears relaxed over his Chelsea future.

“I know a lot is being said right now,” the 25-year-old told Ekstra Bladet. “I can not say too much, but I think it looks good. We have won the Champions League and the Super Cup. I am very happy to be at this club and feel Chelsea are the right place to be in England.”

On how his circumstances have changed in the past year, Christensen said: “I know Thomas Tuchel believes in me. I have also played a big role since he came.

“I had a very difficult period under Lampard, shortly before he was fired. Now luckily it’s going the right way for me. Things can go fast in this world. The most important thing is just that I have never given up.”

Christensen is currently away on international duty for Denmark and is preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Israel on Tuesday night.
