The Red Devils midfielder will become a free agent as soon as the next week.
France coach Didier Deschamps expects Paul Pogba to leave Manchester United this summer.
Pogba spent another frustrating campaign at United as they finished sixth in the Premier League. The Frenchman made 20 league appearances for the Red Devils amid his struggles for fitness.
United are preparing to start a new era under Erik ten Hag next season, but Pogba doesn’t seem to be part of their plans. The Frenchman’s contract expires in June, with the club reportedly making no effort to keep him.
Deschamps has pointed out Pogba’s injury problems, suggesting he should try his luck elsewhere.
“Pogba has had a lot of injuries, with his club’s results not up to par,” Deschamps told a press conference.
“He will have to change scenery this summer.”
Juventus are leading the race to sign Pogba as a free agent this summer. Following a disappointing Serie A campaign, the Bianconeri hope to rebuild their squad for the next season.
Ahead of the upcoming Qatar World Cup, the competition for being in France’s starting lineup is heating up. Real Madrid-linked Aurélien Tchouameni has established a reputation as one of the best Ligue 1 midfielders in recent seasons and could push for a starting spot in Les Blues’ squad.
“He doesn’t have the experience of Pogba and Kante, but he has potential… I took him on quite early, and in his head, he has the necessary maturity,” Deschamps said.
“It’s good to have these young people who make sure the older players do not rest on their laurels! The young players continue to grow, and even the others who are not selected are also growing.”
