The Dutch winger says he had desired to wear the Blaugrana colors ever since he was “a little boy”.

Memphis Depay insists he would’ve still joined FC Barcelona even if his compatriot Ronald Koeman wasn’t the club manager.

Depay’s transfer to Barcelona was confirmed last month but he was officially unveiled as their player on Tuesday.

The Netherlands international has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the La Liga giants after running down his contract with Lyon. According to several reliable sources, he has agreed to take a 30 percent pay cut on the initial salary offered to him and will make €5 million per year.

“It’s a dream come true since I was a little boy,” said Depay, per Marca. “It’s been a long negotiation but the will has always been to play here.

“Thanks to the president and the entire board for making it possible.

“I also want to thank the coach. He made me feel very comfortable and I must thank him for all that.

“I would have come even if he wasn’t here because you can’t say no to Barcelona. I would have still come, but it’s also certain that he has had a big impact.”
