The Dutchman was involved four of the six goals his side scored in the emphatic victory at Amsterdam ArenA.

Memphis Depay insists he “expect more from himself” after almost single-handedly inspiring the Netherlands to a 6-1 win over Turkey.

Depay has been in red-hot form since the start of the season for Barcelona, and he continued his fine goalscoring form on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old forward helped his side opened the scoring in only the first minute by setting up Davy Klaassen for the opener.

He then got on the scoresheet himself once before the break and twice after it to match the international goal tally (33) of legend Johan Cruyff.

Despite putting in such a sensational shift, the former Manchester United did not seem all too thrilled about his performance.

“We were often sloppy, especially me,” Depay told post-match, as ESPN reports.

“But if we start like we did, we make it easy on ourselves. After going two-up, we expanded our game and then you can afford those sloppy moments.

“But we should actually try and keep a high level, and I’m talking about myself here again.

“Everyone might think I’m just jubilant now after the hat trick. I’m happy, yes, but I expect more from myself.”
