Former Manchester United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi has expressed his confidence in current United number one David De Gea.
De Gea has had a topsy-turvy few seasons with United and is currently being questioned as the Red Devils’ number one choice.
The Spanish international has established himself as a key figure for United own the years, winning their player of the year award on four occasions.
However, those standards have dropped of late and De Gea has been subject to lots of criticism amid recent mistakes in goal.
Ole Solskjaer has continued to back the goalkeeper and the same goes for ex-United shot-stopper Talibi.
The Italian who played alongside Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 1999/2000 for Manchester United believes that De Gea will move past his current form and low confidence to eventually become the formidable shot-stopper he once was.
Talibi, who also had issues between the sticks during his time at Old Trafford spoke to American Gambler: “De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
“In England, he has been incredible. Yes, you can have the odd game where it doesn’t quite go like you had hoped, but he is so good that he will easily rediscover his form.
“You just work hard and someone like him will come back stronger. For me, he’s a goalkeeper you can’t even judge. He is one of the best.”
With Dean Henderson in contention for game-time at the club, De Gea will have to be at his best consistently or he faces the danger of falling down to the club’s second-choice goalie.
