David de Gea is feeling the best he’s ever been at Manchester United and is all fired up to help the club win trophies.

De Gea is in a feel good spirit at the moment and has set his mind on winning trophies for United.

The Spaniard has three years left on his current contract having signed a four-year extension last September.

For all of the years he has been playing, De Gea is still ‘only 29’. The Red Devils signed him as a teenager from Atletico Madrid back in 2011. Based on that, many easily think he is in his thirties.

Asked if he thinks people forget that he is still a ‘young goalkeeper’, the Spain international said to the club’s official website:

“Yeah maybe because I’ve been playing a lot since I was very young but right now I feel probably the best I’ve felt in my career.

Despite some recent mistakes and criticism in goal for United, De Gea is still feeling confident about himself.

“I feel very, very well and very confident and very positive and that’s very important for me. Now it’s time to be back to winning ways and winning trophies, that’s the most important thing for us at the moment. Like I say I feel very, very good.

“It’s great to train every day here with the coaches and the goalkeepers,” he added. “We always try to learn from each other and try to push altogether. It’s great. If you see the training it’s really good to see the goalkeepers together.

After a disappointing loss to Crystal Palace in their opening clash, De Gea and United will look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League against Brighton.
