An injury will keep Kevin De Bruyne from participating in Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League outing, confirms Pep Guardiola.

Kevin De Bruyne left the Belgium squad early after picking up an injury in the 2-1 Nations League defeat to England over the last weekend.

The midfielder appeared to request to come off during the second half against the Three Lions and then missed the following match against Iceland.

Doubts have since been surfacing that he could sit out Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Arsenal, and those doubts have now been confirmed by Pep Guardiola.

“Unfortunately, Kevin is out, but the rest of the players came back well. I don’t think [that the injury is serious] but he will be out for the next games I think,” he stated.

Guardiola failed to provide a definitive duration for which the Belgium international will be out of action. Nevertheless, the 29-year old is also expected to remain unavailable for the Champions League group stage opener against Porto on Wednesday.

Not all news, however, has been disappointing in the Man City camp as the manager went on to announce that Sergio Aguero has returned to full training.

Aguero has not featured for the Sky Blues since June and is now closing in on a first appearance of the season following knee surgery.

“He is training well and we are happy,” the Spanish tactician added. “Every team needs a striker and we have played without them [Aguero and Gabriel Jesus] the last two, three games.

“He has been training well and we are happy to see him back on the pitch after a long, long time.”
