West Ham United manager David Moyes and two of the club’s players have tested positive for coronavirus, the club revealed on Tuesday.

David Moyes, Issa Diop and Josh Cullen were all confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday night.

The results came just minutes before West Ham were to start their Carabao Cup game against Hull City.

45 minutes before the game itself, Moyes, Diop and Cullen all had to leave the pitch after the latest results were announced.

In surprising fashion, the game carried on without them and the Hammers went on to win by an emphatic 5-1 score-line regardless.

A club statement said: “West Ham United can confirm that David Moyes, Issa Diop and Josh Cullen have returned positive tests for COVID-19.”

“The Club’s medical team were informed of the test results as the team were at London Stadium preparing for this evening’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Hull City.”

“The manager and both players immediately left the stadium and have returned home.”

“All three, who are asymptomatic, will now follow Public Health England and Premier League guidelines and protocols.”

“Everyone at West Ham United send their best wishes to Moyes, Issa and Josh.”

This comes after Leyton Orient’s clash against Spurs was postponed earlier on Tuesday. A number of the League Two side’s players also tested positive for Covid-19.

Moyes, Issa and Josh will most likely be absent when West Ham welcome Wolves to the London Stadium on Sunday.
