In spite of frequent criticism received by Manchester United’s Fred, Diogo Dalot feels that his teammate has become an “underdog”.
Diogo Dalot is admired by his Manchester United teammate Fred for acting as an “underdog” despite receiving constant criticism from the football world.
The Brazilian midfielder came out as the unexpected hero for the Red Devils as they managed to get a slender victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Ultimately, Fred scored the winning and the only goal in Ralf Rangnick’s first game as an interim manager.
However, the 28-year-old has never had a day without getting harassed by critical talks since his arrival in the Premier League back in 2018.
Although, his recent performances have been impressive and his Man Utd colleague Dalot has become a fan of the Brazilian midfielder.
After Fred’s match-winning goal, Dalot told United’s official website: “He’s the underdog. Everybody can criticise him but he keeps his head clear and goes on the pitch. Every game he gives everything that he has, and that’s what this club is about.”
“Even if you lose the ball or miss a shot on goal, you’re always going to try the next one. And you’re always going to fight for the team and that’s what we want. Players like that are what we want.”
