The Portuguese superstar continues his absence in Man Utd’s pre-season campaign.

Manchester United have left Cristiano Ronaldo out of their squad for an upcoming friendly match against Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo asked Man Utd to allow his departure earlier this summer. But the club are yet to receive an official offer for the forward ahead of the next season.

The Portugal international met the United officials to discuss his future on Tuesday.

The former Real Madrid star has reportedly insisted on his decision to leave the club. Meanwhile, the club still consider Ronaldo as part of their project for the next season, encouraging him to fulfil his contract at Old Trafford.

The 37-year-old has missed Man Utd’s pre-season campaign so far. He returned to United’s training earlier this week but won’t play for the Red Devils in their next friendly match.

On Friday, Man Utd announced Ronaldo is not part of their squad for the upcoming friendly against Atletico Madrid. The club has not provided a reason for Ronaldo’s absence, with Ten Hag saying he doesn’t know when he’ll have the forward at his disposal.

Following a match against Atletico Madrid, United will face Rayo Vallecano as their last pre-season opponents. They will then prepare to meet Brighton in their Premier League opener on August 7.
