Courtois 'pretty sure' Real Madrid can achieve Champions League glory

Real Madrid are the record winners of the coveted continental trophy, and Thibaut Courtois believes they can add another this season.

Real Madrid dominated Europe for a good part of the last decade, winning four times the most prestigious club trophy.

An extraordinary stunt of lifting the Champions League title on three successive occasions, a feat that no other team has ever achieved before, was also carried out by the Spanish giants during that time.

However, the team have put in substandard performances in the last two editions of the competition, facing an exit at the last-16 stage in 2019/20 as well as 2019/20.

Much of their misfortune could be explained by stating the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo, who was central to each of their last four triumphs, left the team in 2018.

Real Madrid are now preparing to begin a fresh journey in Europe and Thibaut Courtois firmly believes that his side can go all the way through.

“I’m sure we can win this Champions League,” Courtois said ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Shakhtar, via the club’s official Twitter account.

“Real Madrid are always favorites in this competition. I’m pretty sure, I’m confident we have enough quality in the team to win this title.

“Juve, Bayern, Barca, there are a lot of good clubs, it’s the most attractive competition in the world and we’re going to do all we can to win the title.”
