The Champions League begins this week, and the bookies have tipped their favorites to take home Europe’s biggest prize in club football.

56 days since Bayern Munich triumphed over Paris Saint-Germain to win a sixth European title, the Champions League resumes on Tuesday night.

We’ve got some mouth-watering ties coming up in the group stages, with Bayern to kick-start the defense of their title in Group A alongside a Luis Suarez-inspired Atletico Madrid.

Let’s not forget Real Madrid and Inter Milan in Group B either. Or how about Juventus and Barcelona in Group G? Every football fan will relish the sight of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi locking horns once more.

So ahead of Tuesday’s opening games, the bookies on Oddschecker have announced the outright winner for the Champions League will be between Bayern and Manchester City.

Top 10 favorites for the Champions League

The bookies have tipped the Premier League champions as the third favorites for European glory, but they remain the most popular bet for punters.

Liverpool have taken 16.49% of betting tips since the market opened at the time of writing. That may change shortly, however, given Virgil van Dijk’s knee injury. The club’s star center-back needs surgery and may, therefore, miss the bulk of the campaign.

No updates on the Dutchman’s condition will likely be released until he has undergone surgery. Until then, we can only speculate when he’ll return. It’s needless to say, though, his absence should prove a costly blow and may well tempt punters against betting on a seventh European crown for the Reds.

This may prompt title holders Bayern Munich, who are the second-most popular bet, to leapfrog Jurgen Klopp’s men as the new top pick for punters.
