The Swedish striker is gradually being reinstalled in the Rossoneri team after a prolonged spell on the sidelines due to muscle injury.

Stefano Pioli confirms Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be afforded some minutes in AC Milan’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 clash against Torino.

Ibrahimovic played his first match since November when he came off the bench to replace Rafael Leao in the final five minutes in Milan’s 2-0 Serie A win against Torino.

The 39-year-old had been out of action ever since scoring a double against Napoli with thigh and calf problems.

The highly impactful striker’s injury threatened to derail his side’s season but the Rossoneri showed persistence, managing to win seven of the 11 games in his absence.

“Tomorrow in the Italian Cup will be an important stage for him,” Pioli said of Ibrahimovic speaking to Rai Sport on Monday. “The main thing is to have overcome the muscular problem.

“He has to find rhythm and minutes and I am sure he will find it tomorrow.”

“According to our mentality and desire to do, we must try to win every match, we are young and the club is very prestigious, our goal is to pass the round. of the Italian Cup. Of course, we will meet a determined opponent.”.
