The evergreen Swede has not seen international action in more than four years with his last appearance for his nation coming in Euro 2016.

Dejan Kulusevski has urged ‘idol’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic to make his return to the Sweden national team at the Euro 2020.

Ibrahimovic hung up his international boots in the previous edition of the European tournament after Sweden finished in the last place in their group and as a result suffered elimination.

The 39-year-old striker, who has been in sublime form this season scoring 11 goals across all competitions for AC Milan, has hinted he is ready to come out of retirement.

The Blagult head coach Janne Andersson is also reportedly ready to welcome the country’s leading goalscorer back on board for this year’s rearranged Euro 2020, which is due to start in June.

“We write to each other,” said Kulusevski of his relationship with Ibrahimovic, speaking to Sky Sports, via Football Italia, after Juventus’ 3-1 Serie A win against Sassuolo on Sunday.

“He is an idol for me, as hardly anyone in the world can do what he does. When he speaks highly of me, it makes me work even harder the next day in training, because I am so proud.

“I really hope he returns for international duty with Sweden at the Euros. It would be wonderful for me and all of Sweden. Come on, Ibra!”
