Antonio Conte clarified whether Inter were planning to keep Christian Eriksen after this Tuesday’s clash against AC Milan.

Christian Eriksen has been making headlines on the transfer market as rumors of his departure keep on surfacing. However, the Danish star has taken a positive step towards showing Antonio Conte he deserves a spot in the squad.

This Tuesday night, Inter and AC Milan faced each other at the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. It was a tough game, with both teams making a strong case for the win. However, Inter benefited from Ibrahimovic’s sending off and managed to secure the win and a place in the Cup’s semi-finals.

Nevertheless, this wouldn’t have been possible without Christian Eriksen. The player scored a stunning free-kick in the 97th minute which put AC Milan’s hopes to bed.

Naturally, the fans saw the midfielder’s goal as a strong argument for his permanence at the Giuseppe Meazza. In fact, it looks like Conte paid close attention as well.

“Christian is a very intelligent lad, he has quality, he’s part of the project and I am happy he scored that goal. I really wanted him to take it, as we all know the quality he has from set plays,” said Conte.

“He’s very shy, so I hope this goal can shake him up and make him come out of his shell. We all like him, he’s a good lad, perhaps too good! He needs to be more determined.”

Moreover, the Italian manager clarified whether Erkisen had a place in his squad and why his presence mattered for the team.

“For a month now I’ve been saying the same thing: this is the Inter squad. Nobody will arrive, nobody will leave. I keep saying it and nobody seems to believe me. We are working with Eriksen on a tactical level to find an alternative for Brozovic, because we don’t have someone like that in the squad.”

Christian Eriksen has been a part of 15 matches at Inter this season, scoring his first goal for the Nerazzurri this Tuesday. As it was an important goal, we may see the Danish getting more chances in the near future.
