Antonio Conte has hailed the winning mentality of his Inter players as they edge closer to the Serie A title.

Antonio Conte was pleased with his side’s hard-fought win over Verona on Sunday afternoon.

Matteo Darmian decided the game with a late goal off the bench that put Inter inches close to being crowned Serie A Champions.

Two more wins for the Nerrazurri and they will clinch what will be their first league title in a decade.

Having won titles all over Europe, including with Juventus and Chelsea, Conte knows a whole lot about winning and has been left pleased with his side’s mentality this season.

“The ball is heavier now, many players have never lived this situation and it’s undeniable a few players have been affected by this,” the Italian boss said to Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“We played two good games against Napoli and Spezia. They said we had stopped ourselves, but it wasn’t this like that.”

“Managing to win this season, means to make this footballer become winners. Never forget the others are dropping points. We have been consistent. Sometimes we suffer a little bit more, but we are keeping our foot on the gas pedal.”

Conte was in a joyous mood on the evening as he celebrated Matteo Darmian’s goal wildly. It is not the first time he would be seen celebrating in such a frantic way on the sidelines. He explained why this one meant so much to him.

“It’s easy to explain. In that run, I see the 95 per cent of the Scudetto,” he added.

“I think it was an important run, we haven’t won it yet, but it was important to win against a team that can create trouble, a very physical team that had nothing to lose.

“These victories was worth nine points.”
