Despite the lure of testing his worth as a free agent in the summer, Hugo Lloris has instead extended his nine-and-a-half-year stay in north London.

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract, committing his future to the club until June 2024.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season. However, the club and player were both keen to sign an extension and have now formally announced one.

“We are delighted to announce that Hugo Lloris has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the Club, which will run until 2024,” read a club statement.

Conte gets his man

Lloris’ news will come as a tremendous boost to Antonio Conte. The Tottenham boss has repeatedly stated his desire to keep the Frenchman beyond the summer, despite reports linking the club with new goalkeepers.

It’s understood that tying Lloris down to a new contract was a top priority for both Conte and Spurs.

The World Cup winner has kept 134 clean sheets in 395 appearances for the club since his €12.6 million arrival from Lyon in August 2012.

To this day, he remains a pivotal part of the team with 51 saves and eight clean sheets in 19 Premier League games in the current campaign.
