Bayern Munich leapfrog Man United in race for Bundesliga star

The Bavarians are set to step up their long-term interest in Denis Zakaria to beat Manchester United to signing the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder on a free transfer.

Despite Zakaria entering the final six months of his Gladbach contract, Manchester United’s interest has allegedly cooled. Therefore, Bayern could become the new frontrunners.

The German giants rate Zakaria’s ability to play in midfield and part of a back three. They view the 25-year-old Swiss as an ideal replacement for Corentin Tolisso, who is out of contract this summer. [Sky Germany – in German]

Los Blancos are ‘very close’ to signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

Ousmane Dembele has taken to Instagram to fire back at Barcelona, describing attempts to force his exit as ‘blackmail’.

The club’s director of football, Mateu Alemany, has said Barca will try to sell Dembele this month, after it became clear that the Frenchman does not intend to sign a new contract.

Manchester United will allow winger Jesse Lingard to leave Old Trafford permanently this month.

The Red Devils would prefer to sell Lingard now rather than lose him for nothing in the summer. Newcastle are interested in doing a transfer deal for the 29-year-old Englishman.
