Lyon conducted another giant-killing act as they smashed Manchester City three-one to cruise into the Champions League semi-finals.

The one billion Euro squad of Manchester City was tonight undone by Lyon whose team is valued at a mere third of that.

Lyon continued their giant-killing act as they erased the name of tournament favorites Manchester City from the competition.

The last round saw Lyon dispatch of Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus. This time around it was Pep Guardiola and his billion Euro plus Manchester City team.

After disposing of Real Madrid with relative ease, everyone has been harping on about this being City’s year. The bookies had even installed them as favorites to lift the Champions League trophy after that feat.

The thing about football is, take it one game at a time. Focus on the team in front of you and nothing else.

It appears that City had their mind on something else, and found out within 24 minutes that reputation gets you nothing in football.

Well, it got them something and that was that ball in the back of the net with an exquisite goal from Cornet to give Lyon the lead.

The French side did hold on for dear life at times. It was only to be expected with the array of speed and talent at Guardiola’s disposal.

The Citizens thought they were right back in it in the 69th minute when Sterling and De Bruyne linked up for the Belgian to level things up.

But oh how wrong they were.

Moussa Dembele has been linked with a move to the big time this summer. In the next few minutes did nothing but enhance his reputation and push up his price tag.

In the 79th he restored the lead, and 87th he secured a place in the semifinals, where Bayern Munich await them.

Check out the highlights!

Sarri got sacked after his failure at Juventus and Setien looks set to be shoved out of the doot at Barcelona for his Champions League defeat.

Will this see City ditch Guardiola or is this good enough for a team like City in Europe’s elite competition?
