Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the Group D FIFA Women’s World Cup match at the Hindmarsh Stadium.

China and Haiti met for what was a must-win affair in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The pressure was on for both teams ahead of the clash. England’s 1-0 win over Denmark meant they each had a chance to revive their Group D campaigns. They entered their encounter three points behind the Danes, without a single point.

Ultimately, the victory went to China, even with only 10 players on the pitch. They lost Zhang Rui to a red card in the 29th minute after an ill-advised challenge on Sherly Jeudy. The dismissal appeared to be a game-changer, but China eventually got their way. Substitute Wang Shuang came off the bench to cooly slot a 74th-minute penalty kick into the bottom-left corner.

That goal was enough to seal China a 1-0 win, moving them level with second-placed Denmark on three points. They’ll face England in their Group D finale on Tuesday in Hindmarsh. Haiti, meanwhile, will take on Denmark in Perth on the same day, needing a miracle to qualify for the last-16.
