The England international will not be able to play for the Blues in their upcoming game.

Reece James spent two months on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury. He returned to Chelsea‘s squad in their 4-0 win over Burnley last week, scoring a goal and setting up another one.

However, the English star has a new fitness problem that will prevent him from playing in his side’s next game. Thomas Tuchel confirmed James’ new injury setback in a pre-match press conference.

“Everybody was on the training pitch today except for Ben Chilwell, of course, and Reece James, who has a muscular problem after his last three games,” the Chelsea boss said. “It’s not his injured leg, but the other leg. We need examinations, we thought he could be on the pitch today but he couldn’t.”

He added: “He felt it during the [Burnley] match and that’s why we took him out, but it didn’t get better. We are worried, but we need more details and more information, so today will be further examinations.

“It’s a setback for sure. I hope not a big one.”

The Athletic has claimed the Chelsea defender will spend a minimum of two weeks out of action. In addition to the Norwich game, the English star will also miss his side’s clashes against Lille, Newcastle, and Middlesbrough.
