Kai Havertz is on the verge of completing his long-awaited switch from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea, reports in England say.

Leverkusen have never been prepared to budge on their £90million valuation of Havertz and seem to have finally managed to get what they wanted.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea will initially shell out £70million to land the 21-year-old playmaker with another £20million included in potential add-ons.

The Blues chief executive Marina Granovskaia has finally made a breakthrough in long-standing negotiations with the Bundesliga giants.

After striking an agreement with Leverkusen, Chelsea are now one step away from materializing their long-term interest in Havertz.

The German prodigy will, therefore, become Frank Lampard’s sixth signing this summer. The English manager has already brought in the likes of Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Hakim Ziyech, and Timo Werner.

Despite having an attack jammed full of world-class talents, Lampard has never abandoned the idea of snapping up Havertz.

Seduced by the youngster’s ability to unlock the opposition defenses practically at will, Frank has been pushing hard for his signature.

And he’s finally seen the deal out.

Despite his young age, the left-footed starlet has a wealth of senior experience, having featured for Bayer’s first team 150 times across all competitions.

An inspirational 2019/20 season for Havertz includes an array of magical moments. His tally of 18 goals and nine assists for the last season only highlights how talismanic he’s been for Leverkusen.
