Chelsea turned down the offer to sign Miralem Pjanic from Juventus as part of a swap deal for Jorginho, says the Italian midfielder’s agent.

If Chelsea thought otherwise, Jorginho might have been a Juventus player by now.

The Italian midfielder was strongly linked with a move to the Bianconeri when Maurizio Sarri was at the helm of affairs.

Having worked with Sarri at Napoli and Chelsea, Jorginho was reportedly interested in the idea of a reunion with his former manager.

Juventus even proposed a swap deal including Miralem Pjanic but it appears the Blues declined that offer. The Bosnian international will go on to join Barcelona in a swap deal that saw Arthur move the other way.

Jorginho finds himself at a crossroads in his Chelsea career. Once unshakable in the lineup, the 28-year-old was in and out of the Blues lineup last season. Post lockdown, he only made four appearances in total under Frank Lampard.

With his future at Chelsea still uncertain, the midfielder’s agent, Joao Santos, says his client could have moved to Juventus if Chelsea allowed the move go through.

“Juventus had offered a swap deal including Miralem Pjanic, but the English side didn’t take it into consideration,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.

“[Juve sporting director Fabio] Paratici never called me. Would he have moved to Juventus with Sarri? I think so.”

Still on Jorginho and his future, his agent added that the midfielder would consider a move elsewhere if he continues to get overlooked by Lampard.

“He has a three-year deal with Chelsea. The market is long, it will last until October 5,” he said.

“If Chelsea were to think that he is no longer part of the project, I would find an alternative solution.

“Last year he played 40 games for Chelsea and is an important member of the national team. “

“So far we haven’t received any official offers. He is followed by many clubs and there aren’t many players with his characteristics in that role.”

Jorginho has three years left on his current Chelsea contract. Still a lot of time for things to change regarding his future.
