Ex-Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has warned a number of Blues players have to “wake up if they want to have a career”.

Frank Leboeuf was critical of Chelsea and their performance in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Tottenham.

Timo Werner scored his first goal for the Blues in the first half to give his side a lead before Erik Lamela levelled the scoring late on in the second half.

The game dragged on to penalties and it looked to be a no-ending affair at first. Both sides converted their first four spot-kicks before Kane also found the net from 12 yards.

Mount was to take the last for Chelsea but saw his effort strike the outside of the post.

Leboeuf singled out the midfielder for a ‘bad game’ and also sent a message to his teammates.

“We saw so many defensive mistakes from Chelsea last season. And they still have work to do,” the former Blues defender told ESPN.

“But it’s not just the defenders, it’s the midfielders too, they have to work and come back. Mason Mount was awful all game.

“He’s a very talented player but some players have to wake up if they want to have a career.

“A career is not only six months or a year, it has to be more.”

Chelsea are now without a win in their last two games in all competitions. The Blues will look to get back to winning ways when they host Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
