The Spanish defender seemingly has no place in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Chelsea.

Chelsea is reportedly gearing up to put Marc Cucurella on the transfer market in January, with Real Madrid emerging as a potential suitor.

The Spanish left-back, who arrived at Chelsea from Brighton in a £62 million deal last summer, has found himself on the sidelines under the club’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino. This season, Cucurella has failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are open to offers during the upcoming winter transfer window.

While there has been speculation about a potential loan move to Real Madrid, Manchester United, who expressed interest in a short-term deal earlier this summer, is no longer in contention. The Red Devils addressed their left-back position by acquiring Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham on loan.

Cucurella, whose native Spain is reportedly appealing to him, appears to favour a move to Real Madrid. Chelsea, despite significant spending in the summer, has yet to see on-field improvements, finishing 12th in the Premier League last season and currently holding the 14th position in the early stages of the new campaign.

Cucurella recently made his second appearance of the season in a League Cup victory over Brighton. The Blues will return to action with a league game against Fulham on Monday.
