Stamford Bridge was the place where Newcastle visited Chelsea on Monday for a new Premier League game. We have the player ratings.

After tonight’s performance against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, we can safely assume the best Chelsea is back in action. It took them more than half a season and a managerial change to get to this point. Frank Lampard wasn’t able to find the ideal starting eleven or the players’ confidence as Thomas Tuchel did. In a matter of weeks, the German manager can brag about having one of the most competitive football clubs in England today.

Most of the action took place during the first half thanks to Timo Werner’s revival. The German forward set up the opening goal and scored after more than 100 days of drought. Olivier Giroud played beside him after replacing an injured Tammy Abraham early in the first half. The French striker took his chance by scoring the first goal after a Timo Werner assist from the left flank. After that, the German forward scored his goal with his right foot after a precise cross from the right.

Timo influence at Chelsea.

Werner’s goal was bound to happen given the immense influence he had in the last three games. Out of the last five goals the Blues scored, Timo was involved in all of them. He won two penalties, delivered two assists, and finally scored his goal today that broke his drought. Despite not scoring more goals in the second half, Chelsea still dominated the game.

With this victory, they reach 42 points and take the Premier League’s Top Four position ahead of a crucial week. Keep in mind they play at Southampton on the weekend before traveling to face Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano. The Blues are more than ready to take on the next challenge in all competitions. All thanks to Thomas Tuchel and Timo Werner.
