Petr Cech has sent a message to former teammate and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta amid the Gunners’ current struggles.

Petr Cech has sent a message of support to Mikel Arteta and says the Spaniard needs time to get it right at Arsenal.

The club find themselves in an unexpected state at this stage of the season. Ahead of the festive games, the Gunners find themselves in 15th place after only four wins this season.

Since November, Arsenal are yet to record a domestic win and the pressure continues to pile on Arteta.

The latest disappointment at the Emirates came in on Tuesday night with another poor showing that ended in a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Some set of the club’s fans are already calling for Arteta to be sacked but Petr Cech says the Spaniard needs more time.

The legendary goalkeeper did add that his former teammate must be willing to change his ‘philosophy’ to bring positive results back to the club.

Cech said about Arteta and Arsenal’s struggles on talkSPORT: “It’s hard for any manager when the results aren’t going your way and you’re trying to change the team and the philosophy of football at the club, when you start to change it a little bit, it needs time.”

“But you need results as well.”

“As soon as you’re on the pitch knowing that you’ve won three on the bounce, you worry less about what’s going to happen, you just think about your game and everything seems easier.”

Cech continued on the Gunners current woes: “This is the hardest part in football, because it’s easy to say ‘this is not working, let’s do something else’ but you can’t do that all the time and if you believe in something it takes a bit of time.”

“Of course in modern football results are what count at the end of the day, and you have to find a balance between the way you want to do it, and success.”
