Arsenal faced Manchester City in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals tonight at Emirates Stadium in the middle of a deep crisis. Mikel Arteta is having the hardest time of his life in his second year as the Gunners’ manager. Tonight, he had to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in a confrontation we expected to be a massacre.
Gabriel Jesus opened the count for the Citizens early in the game after a precise cross from Zinchenko. Lacazette responded quickly with a header but the Gunners were too weak for this Manchester City side. Riyad Mahrez broke the draw with a second-half free-kick in which the goalie made a terrible mistake in his attempt to save the shot.

Phil Foden appeared again during a complicated moment of the match with a brilliant finish over the goalkeeper. That was the third goal for City, a team that knew they had the result in the bag. Foden himself set Laporte up for the fourth and final goal with a clinical cross from the right flank.
The French defender scored with a header inside the box for City’s final 4-1 result. With this victory, Manchester City reaches the Carabao Cup semi-final after beating an agonizing Arsenal side. There’s still no clue as to how much longer will Arteta keep his job but he might not last for much longer.
