Maintaining his red hot form, the Uruguayan marksman scored a late header to put the game beyond doubt for his side against Aston Villa.

Edinson Cavani has matched Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Chihartio’s record of scoring the most goals as a substitute in a single Premier League season for Manchester United.

Cavani equaled the record by scoring in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. He replaced Mason Greenwood at the 65-minute mark and found the back of the net with a neat header in the final moments to settle the game.

It was the striker’s fifth goal in the Premier League as a substitute, following a goal in the 3-1 victory over Burnley, a brace in the comeback win against Southampton, and a strike against Everton back in November.

The 34-year-old is increasingly proving to be an invaluable addition to the Red Devils squad. Cavani, having arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer, is now up to 15 goals and four assists in 18 starts for Manchester United across all competitons this season.
