Initially labeled as a ‘panic signing’ by some, the veteran striker is increasingly proving to be a valuable addition to the Red Devils squad.

Edinson Cavani has the “right mentality to be a champion” says Bruno Fernandes, who has urged the others members of the Manchester United team to acquire that quality.

Despite it being a free transfer, many questioned Manchester United’s decision to sign Cavani during the summer transfer window. Those raising their eyebrows were unsure if the aging player still had what it takes to lead the line for a top club.

The 34-year-old has done a great job to silence his critics. Scoring five goals and in four starts last month, he won the club’s Player of the Month award.

Incredible work rate, predatory instincts in the box, and the ability to create space for his teammates are a few qualities that make the former Paris Saint-Germain man a valuable asset to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“The mentality he has is passing to us and he has to keep passing it to us because he has the right mentality to be a champion and we have to learn from that,” Fernandes told of Cavani, speaking to BT Sport.

“Everyone can see his technical qualities because he made history everywhere else he’s played and nobody can delete history.”
