Casemiro maintains Real Madrid are aware of how tough and competitive their Champions League group is in the build-up to their Inter Milan showdown.

Casemiro has returned to the fold in time for Real Madrid’s trip to Inter Milan for their high-stake Champions League clash.

Both sides have endured a dismal start to their group stage campaigns, with Los Blancos accruing a win, draw, and loss from their opening three Champions League matches.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have yet to taste victory (D2, L1) and face the prospect of suffering another early elimination from Europe’s elite club competition.

Therefore, it’s virtually a must-win affair for both teams, which will require Casemiro and his teammates to rediscover their mojo to be able to come out on top.

Well aware of how much Real Madrid must improve to avoid failing to reach the competition’s knock-out stage, Casemiro said [via Football Italia]: “We know that we are in a difficult group.

“Shakhtar have high-quality Brazilian players. Borussia have done well in Germany, and Inter are a great team, with a strong tradition and a coach who has clear ideas.

Zinedine Zidane’s men sealed a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Inter in the reverse fixture. But, their leaky defense has now conceded over 1.5 goals in each of their three Champions League outings.

Casemiro has also reflected on the encounter held in Madrid.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy match, but we were mentally strong and focused on winning.

“Then Rodrygo scored the decisive goal. The mental work and the concentration we maintained during the match were very important.

“We are aware that there’s still a long way to go, but that win was very important.”
