The Liverpool legend has warned the Premier League’s top four sides to pay close attention to Arsenal this season.

Arsenal are a team that the Premier League’s top four hopefuls should pay close attention to, says Jamie Carragher.

Despite losing their first three games of the season, Arsenal bounced back in style. A run of five wins in six games has lifted the Gunners on the cusp of the upper half in the Premier League and secured passage into the last-16 of the EFL Cup.

Mikel Arteta’s side also lie only four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League table.

“We can already see which are the top four strongest Premier League teams [Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United],” Carragher told the Telegraph.

“West Ham have had a good start, as have Brighton and Everton, but over the course of 38 games I am sure both clubs would take a Europa League place if it was offered right now.

“The team that I think is worth watching closely as the season evolves is Arsenal.

“If they can get the consistency into their young side, the lack of European football can be a massive help for Mikel Arteta as he spends more time with his players on the training ground.

“I think it is too soon for them to qualify for the Champions League, but of the chasing pack they may prove themselves best equipped to challenge.”

Arsenal will hope to prove Carragher right starting with a Premier League match against Crystal Palace on October 18 at the Emirates.
