Five new players have joined the Spanish giants this summer – will there be a sixth new signing before the transfer window closes?
Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid head coach, has officially ruled out any further signings before the transfer window closes on September 1.
This suggests any potential deal to bring Kylian Mbappe over from Paris Saint-Germain is off the table…for now.
“I rule it out. 100%,” Ancelotti said on possible new signings during a press conference on Thursday.
Ancelotti also ruled out a summer exit for Luka Modric. The 37-year-old, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, hasn’t started in any of Real Madrid’s two LaLiga games this season.
Which players have Real Madrid signed this summer?
This summer, Real Madrid have signed five players for around €129.5 million. Their most expensive signing was Jude Bellingham. The club’s new No.5 arrived from Borussia Dortmund in July for a €103 million fee.
Ancelotti’s side paid out an additional €20 million to Fenerbahce for Arda Guler and €5 million to lure Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano.
They’ve also signed Espanyol striker Joselu and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on season-long loans. The deals cost a combined €1.5 million.
Out of the five players, Bellingham has impressed the most so far. The midfielder is the leading scorer in LaLiga with three goals from his opening two games. He has also made one assist for Real Madrid.
Kepa, who will step in for the injured Thibaut Courtois in goal, will start against Celta Vigo on Friday.
