After his blistering return to the pitch this season against Leeds United, a Leicester City star received high praise from Brendan Rodgers.

Brendan Rodgers is extremely happy to have James Maddison back to his best form on a new Leicester City season. The Foxes are just as competitive as they were last year. But they also have one of the best playmakers in English football back to his best. Maddison suffered a hip problem that took him all the way to the operating room last season, which hindered his level of performance.

The player already confessed he struggled hard to return to his best form but last weekend was the confirmation. During the match against Leeds United, he came on the pitch during the second half. Playing next to Cengiz Under to completely change the Foxes’ odds to demolish Bielsa’s squad. In just a few minutes, he proved to be the ideal player to come up with better ways to create chances for the strikers. Jamie Vardy must also be happy for having Maddison back to his best.

Rodgers can’t wait to watch Maddison on Thursday.

Ahead of Leicester City’s Europa League match against Sporting Braga in Group G, Rodgers spoke about Maddison’s return.

“Maddison has that incredible ability to make something happen,” Rodgers said to the BBC Sport. “He loves his life, his football. James is a winner, he is not just about looking good as a player. He wants to be a successful player. He is a player who loves the game and when you have a player like that out injured and not able to impact the team it can be difficult. He was very honest to say that and he looks strong.

“The key was managing him and getting him back where he could impact the games. ‘He has a wonderful personality. Within the game it’s very important to have those types. There is a lot of structure but he brings that improvisation at the top of the field.”
