After running some tests on his knee, a key Spain player has been reported to miss the upcoming match against Germany.

As part of the UEFA Nations League’s next round of games, Spain is set to face Germany in Group 4 of the A sector. This match will determine which of both squads gets to qualify for the tournament’s playoffs. Luis Enrique’s side has 8 points and Joachim Low’s players have 9 so far.

It’s safe to say both sides need their best players for the upcoming challenge, but Spain won’t have one of their most important names. During the previous match against Switzerland, Sergio Busquets limped out of the pitch with evident signs of pain. Doctors decided to run some tests and the results came out on Monday.

As it turns out, the FC Barcelona midfielder will miss the match against Germany due to a knee issue. It’s still unclear how long he will have to be on the sidelines or if Barcelona will give him even more time to rest. All we know for now is that he won’t be available during this crucial match against Germany.

What’s the extent of Busquets’ injury?

According to the report from Marca, Sergio Busquets suffers from an external collateral ligament sprain on his left knee. Those types of issues tend to be serious if the players don’t rest for at least a few weeks. If he doesn’t listen to the doctor’s orders, he could even infringe more damage to the area.

As far as we know, Busquets might also miss the games against Atletico Madrid and Dynamo Kyiv. The plan is for him to recover properly in order to make it to the match against Osasuna. Ronald Koeman will have to play with Miralem Pjanic on Sergio Busquets’ position while he leaves Frenkie de Jong as a center-back.

On the upside, the Dutch manager did get the good news that Philippe Coutinho is back from his injury and training with the rest of his teammates. The Ace Football team wishes Sergio Busquets a speedy recovery.
