After several days of negotiations, Sevilla finally got the best transfer of the winter transfer window. He comes from the Italian Serie A.

Sevilla FC just completed the best transfer of the winter transfer window so far, they sealed the deal for an incredible playmaker. We are talking about Alejandro Dario ‘Papu’ Gomez, who used to play for Atalanta. The Argentine playmaker is already a veteran but he is valued as one of the most creative players of his generation. In recent months, he had a falling out with manager Gian Piero Gasperini that left him out of activity for months.

‘Papu’ couldn’t have the luxury of missing more time on the bench if he wanted to play this year’s Copa America. This is why he pushed for an exit to a club where his talents are better appreciated. Sevilla FC is the place where ‘Papu’ intends to flourish as the talented player that he is. The Spanish La Liga is the ideal place for a creative star such as him to grow and express his football.

How much did Sevilla pay for Gomez?

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Sevilla agreed to pay €5.5 million-plus €3 million in bonuses for the next three and a half seasons. ‘Papu’ is set to make the trip from Bergamo to Seville on Tuesday to undergo medicals. As soon as he passes those tests, the Argentine player will be announced as Sevilla FC’s latest transfer.

Gomez comes to play in the same league as his friend and compatriot, Lionel Messi. In the past, their style of play has been compared due to their similar stature and creativity with the ball at their feet. We’ll see if ‘Papu’ adapts well to this new competition. Keep in mind that we are talking about a 32-year-old veteran whose career was believed to be over. Top-flight Spanish football gets a massive talent in the twilight of his career.
