It is with great sorrow we have to report that a former Argentina manager passed away at the age of 66 in the city of Buenos Aires today.

Argentina keeps having terrible news as one of its former managers passed away today at the age of 66 years old. We are talking about Alejandro Sabella, the man who took his national team to the 2014 World Cup final. According to a report from Diario Ole, Sabella was suffering from cardiac problems and had to be hospitalized in recent weeks.

This happened during the terrible news of Diego Maradona’s passing. Even though he apparently recovered from the issues after lowering his medicine intake, Sabella got infected with a hospital virus when he got into intensive care.

There have been many deaths reported with this incident, especially in Covid-19-related deaths. However, it is important to note that Sabella wasn’t infected with the coronavirus and his passing is not related to the pandemic.

Sabella’s achievements in football.

After more than 15 years playing professional football, Sabella had a modest career at the highest level as a midfielder. He made his debut with River Plate in 1974 before trying his luck in European football at Sheffield United for two years.

After that, he played one more season at Leeds United before returning to his native Argentina. Estudiantes is where Sabella set his roots in football, a club he eventually managed and met his biggest success. As a coach, ‘Pachorra’ won the 2009 Copa Libertadores and the Argentine League a year later with Estudiantes.

After that, AFA gave him a chance to coach the national team. Needless to say, we all know how Sabella did during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. From the Ace Football Sports Group, we send his family our deepest condolences.
