Due to his incredible humanitarian work, Marcus Rashford has received one of Britain’s highest honors a citizen can get at 21 years-old.
What were you doing when you were 21? Marcus Rashford’s life just took an extraordinary turn for the better as he is getting major recognition from the Queen herself. On Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours list, Marcus Rashford received Great Britain’s third-highest recognition for a citizen. A Member of the British Empire (MBE) has been delivered to the Manchester United young star today.
This came as a response from the Crown to the humanitarian work Marcus completed throughout the global pandemic for children in need. As we’ve seen during the last seven months, the forward has been a champion against child poverty. In his fight for this noble cause, his campaign was heard by the British Parliament as they passed a law in children’s favor. Rashford was extremely excited about this honor as he shared the moment on his social media accounts.
Rashford doesn’t give up on the fight.
Despite getting this high honor, Marcus Rashford is doubling down on the cause he fights for. We have a feeling that we’ll be hearing more from the Manchester United striker for years to come. This is only the beginning of an already brilliant career, both on and off the pitch.
“It’s a nice moment for me personally but I feel like I’m still at the beginning of the journey that I set out to try to achieve,” said Rashford on the BBC.
“I think what I would like to do now that I’m in this position is just speak directly to the prime minister and really ask for the vouchers to be extended until at least October half-term because I think that’s what the families need.
“Speaking to them and knowing how much they’ve been helped, and how much it’s going to affect them if they don’t have it, that’s got to be my main focus now – to get that message across.”
