On a wild day for COVID-infected people, Liverpool confirmed that one of it’s biggest stars just tested positive for the contagious virus.

Football stars keep succumbing to Covid-19, this time Liverpool announced that one of their biggest stars just tested positive. It is one of their front-three and he is already taking the necessary protocols. We are talking about Sadio Mane, the Senegal international displayed mild symptoms of the virus this week.

That makes it two of Liverpool’s top players to test positive in the last couple of weeks after Thiago Alcantara. Sadio is currently doing well and he is already in quarantine. The Reds won’t have him available to play for the next two weeks in any competition. Liverpool has one visit to Villa Park to play against Aston Villa on Sunday before the international break.

Mane will obviously miss the break with his national team and will attempt to recover in time for a very important match. On October 17, the Reds will face Everton at the Merseyside Derby that will take place at Goodison Park. This is arguably one of the most expected fixtures in the whole season due to the Toffees’ latest transfer decisions and great form.

Liverpool’s announcement confirms Mane’s diagnosis.

The Reds issued a public statement where they describe Sadio Mane’s situation and wish him a speedy recovery. They expect he can get well in time for the return of activity after the international break. However, there is no way to know if he’ll be ready in time.

“Sadio Mane has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines,” published Liverpool on their website.

“The forward, who started and scored in Monday’s 3-1 victory over Arsenal, has displayed minor symptoms of the virus but feels in good health overall. However, like with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool Football Club are – and will continue to – follow all protocols relating to COVID-19 and Mane will self-isolate for the required period of time.”
