In a drastic plot twist, one of Chelsea’s biggest stars hinted at a possible move to Newcastle United if the lack of minutes continues.
Not everything is dandy at Chelsea FC, especially with Newcastle United lurking in the background. The newly acquired football club is already working on attracting some of the biggest names in football. They have blank checks for everybody and they are willing to spend big on transfer fees. One of the clubs with the biggest star overbooking is Chelsea FC, which has several elite-level players at their disposal.
It’s only natural that at least one of them is unhappy with their situation. The man in question is none other than Timo Werner, the German striker who arrived last season from RB Leipzig. His tenure with the Blues has been filled with mishaps and goal-droughts. The situation reached a point where Thomas Tuchel felt the need to sign Romelu Lukaku in order to secure a decent amount of goals per season. But this decision hit Werner right in his ego and he is not keeping quiet about it.
Werner responds to Newcastle rumors.
Speaking to Express Germany via Football London, Werner described his current situation despite improving quite dramatically over the last few weeks: “The last weeks at Chelsea have been difficult for me. I fell behind and had to fight my way back. In a career, things always go up and down, never steadily up. But you learn to deal with it. I have to force my way back in, and that’s what challenges me.
“Of course I want more playing time, so I’m giving everything in training. Of course I can’t be satisfied if I don’t play. Of course I want to be a regular starter for a big team. But I’m not saying I’m desperate to leave if I don’t start 10 or 15 games before Christmas. In football, things change relatively quickly. I have to look at the big picture to make my decision.”
