According to reports coming from England, Newcastle already have their number one managerial target but there’s a major issue.

Newcastle United has been trying to rally around the possible new manager who will take over the squad after Steve Bruce is sacked. The new board of directors has decided that the English coach is not the ideal man to take control of the team. They have been trying to land the substitute over the last week or so. Amongst the many names that are currently being considered, we have people like Antonio Conte, Frank Lampard, Chris Wilder, and Eddie Howe.

But recent reports from Sky Italy confirm that the new club owners have Brendan Rodgers as the main target to helm the new project. The Irish coach has been doing an exceptional job at Leicester City over the last three seasons with the team staying in European spots all the time. Also, he’s been able to revive Jamie Vardy’s career by putting together a highly competitive squad.

Rodgers responds to rumors linking him to Newcastle.

After the rumors started spreading like wildfire, there was a report from a journalist who works at The Telegraph. John Percy just confirmed that Rodgers told him he isn’t interested in the Newcastle United job. Here’s what he tweeted: “Brendan Rodgers will not be leaving Leicester City FC for Newcastle if/when Steve Bruce is sacked. No interest in the job and fully committed to his club.”

After reading this report, it takes everything back to square one for Newcastle United. They are fully convinced they will be able to secure a new manager before the holidays but they are struggling to find the ideal candidate. The report suggested that the owners have been watching Rodgers’ work over the last few years and they thought he would fit the job perfectly. But Brendan is simply quite happy where he is right now.
