Bayern Munich have been dealt another injury blow with news that Douglas Costa will be spending a while on the treatment table.

Bayern Munich would have to spend the next few weeks without Douglas Costa.

The Brazilian, on loan from Juventus, suffered an ankle injury in training and is now expected to spend a while on the sidelines.

A statement from Bayern issued an update on Costa, saying that he would be out for the ‘foreseeable future’.

“FC Bayern is without winger Douglas Costa for today’s game against Arminia Bielefeld and the coming fixtures,” the statement read.

“The Brazilian suffered a hairline fracture of his right metatarsal in training, with the diagnosis confirmed by the club’s medical department. Costa has so far made 20 competitive appearances this season.”

The 30-year-old has only featured sparingly for the Bundesliga giants this term but his injury comes at a wrong time for the Bavarians.

Given a packed fixture schedule in the coming weeks and a recent injury to another forward in Serge Gnabry, Costa could have stepped up and seen more minutes under Hansi Flick.

On a personal level, it continues another disappointment for the Brazilian who has battled multiole injuries over the pastfew seasons.

So far this season, Costa has scored only one goal alongside three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions for Bayern Munich.
