During a recent interview with L’Equipe, Karim Benzema opened up about Zinedine Zidane’s future as Real Madrid’s manager.

We all know the type of player/manager relationship that Karim Benzema has with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. The French coach has always remained faithful to his striker and transformed him into the true star he always was. When Cristiano Ronaldo left the club, ‘Zizou’ made sure Benzema took over as the true offensive leader in the squad. Apart from Sergio Ramos, everybody regards Benzema as the star.

With all the rumors surrounding Zidane’s possible exit from the club, Karim wanted to talk about the possibility. It all happened during a recent interview for L’Equipe in which he was asked about the possible exit. For the France striker, he was just returning a favor ‘Zizou’ did for him. In recent months, the Real Madrid coach pushed for his return to the France National Team.

Benzema can’t imagine Zidane leaving Real Madrid.

When asked about the chance of his manager leaving his club, Benzema sent Florentino Perez a clear message about it. “He’s been the Real Madrid coach until now, right?” Benzema said in an interview with L’Equipe. “I don’t see him leaving. He won’t leave, you’ll see. If he leaves, he leaves… but for now I don’t see Real Madrid without Zidane. Zizou has always been honest with me,” Benzema added.

“Close and very sincere. He tells me when things are going well, but also when they’re not. Whether in training or matches, he’s always very open about it. He’s very direct with me and that’s why I respect him so much. That gives me confidence on the pitch. He’s my coach, but he’s like an older brother. He’s always supported me, whether I’m doing well or not, and he’s helped me to get better every year.”
