France forward Karim Benzema has dropped an update on his fitness for the European Championship after an injury scare.

Karim Benzema feels no discomfort or pain from his injury scare and has declared himself as ‘100%’ fit for France.

The Real Madrid striker limped off just before half-time during France’s 3-0 friendly win over Bulgaria last week following a challenge from defender Ivan Turitsov.

But Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps played down the severity of the injury, and now Benzema has confirmed he is back in training and raring to go this summer.

“I’m very good. I was able to resume training with the group yesterday,” he told Telefoot.

“There was no pain. I didn’t think about the fact that I could have had to forfeit the Euros.

“It was a big pain, but it was only a blow. It was not necessary to stay more minutes on the ground so as not to force it, so I decided to go out.

“We have a very good medical staff so everything was done very quickly. If I resumed training with the group yesterday, it is because I have no discomfort, no pain.

“I feel good, I worked in the gym so I am 100%.”

Benzema and France will face Germany in their first Group F match on Tuesday night in Euro 2020.
