The Gunners have hit a new low under their former captain as they continue their worst start ever to a Premier League season.

Hector Bellerin feels all the criticism aimed towards Mikel Arteta and the speculations surrounding his future at Arsenal are simply ‘unjust’.

The former Manchester City assistant coach has spent almost a year at the Emirates office now. Strong improvement in the team was witnessed in his initial period but the last few months have been nothing less than a disaster.

After taking over mid-season last term, he guided the team to FA Cup success while also promoting a positive change in the dressing room environment.

Largely inconsistent and ineffective, the Gunners, however, sit seven points above the relegation zone early in the Premier League campaign after managing to amass just 13 points from 10 games.

With Arsenal recording their worst start to a season in 39 years, questions have been raised about Arteta’s ability and whether he’s the right man to re-establish them as a dominant team in England.

“So unjust. So unjust. As I say, we have to, as players, take responsibility for this because I think we all know that Mikel and his coaching team give us all the tools that we need to win all the games,” Bellerin told beIN Sports regarding the question marks over his boss’ future.

“When you lose a game it’s always very easy to blame the coach, but also when the coach gives us the tools we have to be the ones to step up.

“The way that Mikel plans these games, all the knowledge that they give us before we step on to the pitch is second to none.

“Sometimes it’s not that easy, depending on the opponent, but that’s why football is beautiful. If you play the games on the [tactics] board, then it will be a completely different game.”
